Hi, I’m Colette, the maker behind Motherkind Keepsakes!

Motherkind Keepsakes began from my own breastfeeding journey with my son, Daniel. As I approached our 1-year milestone, I wanted to celebrate something that had been incredibly challenging, deeply personal, and truly meaningful to me. I soon realised that while there were options available, they were often very expensive and didn’t feel accessible for many people wanting to honour their own journeys.

That experience inspired me to create something different — jewellery that was not only beautiful and meaningful, but also more accessible for others who wanted to mark their own stories in a lasting way. My breastfeeding journey continued until natural term, when Daniel self-weaned at 3 years and 9 months, and it remains one of the most treasured parts of my life, so I genuinely understand the significance of each breastmilk piece I make.

I spent a long time researching and perfecting my breastmilk preservation techniques. I am one of a very small number of people who works without mass-produced preservation powders, instead understanding and working with the science behind the process to create stable, lasting pieces.

From there, I began receiving requests for memorial jewellery, and spent time perfecting those techniques too, so that I could ensure that I could offer the quality you deserve to hold your loved ones close again.

Today, I create both memorial and breastmilk jewellery, working with ashes, hair, fur, breastmilk, or other inclusions that hold sentimental value to you, such as umbilical cord, pregnancy test caps, sand, cloth, fingerprints and handwriting to craft deeply personal keepsakes that tell each person’s story in their own way.

Over the years, I have worked with thousands of people to create jewellery and keepsakes that hold memory, love and connection. Getting to know them a little better along the way is something that means so much to me. Being chosen to make such precious jewellery and keepsakes for you is an absolute honour, and something I am so passionate about and grateful that I get to do every day.

 

I run Motherkind Keepsakes singlehandedly, which means I am with you every step of the way — from your first message, right through to the creation and sending your finished piece home.

They remain in my care throughout the entire process, ensuring consistency, respect, and complete attention to detail at every stage. This allows me to stay closely connected to every order and every story, giving you reassurance that your piece is always in safe, experienced hands.
